This Saturday Trafford MV 3rds are the senior home side once again as they welcome Marple 2nd XV to MacPherson Park for a 2.15pm kick off. It is a great achievement for the Club that we are once again fielding a 3rd XV which is competing in the league structure - we all need to work hard to attract and recruit new players so this team remains sustainable and competitive as they take on 1st and 2nd XV's from other clubs.
Our 3rd XV are currently in 11th position in the league with just a single win under their belts while their opponents are not too far above them in 7th place having secured 4 wins over the season to date - the opportunity is their to collect our second win and show what we can do.
The 3rd XV selection is much changed as players take the field in memory of former 3rd XV skipper Dave Hughes R.I.P.
Starting the game in the front row will be props Dave Hopper and James Halsall with Jordan Hughes wearing the number 2 shirt at hooker.
The second row pairing this week is Dave Carpenter and Ryan Wilkinson.
The back row this week has Gareth Adams in the No 8 shirt with Jason Alexander and Bobby Harrop playing either side of him.
The half back pairing has a blend of youth and experience with young Charlie Valentine at scrum half and the more mature James Knighton at stand off.
The centre pairing sees Liam Brimble and Ben Sunderland starting in midfield.
Outside of them on the wings we see Callum Rigg and Laurence Ryan.
Home from university and starting at full back we have Oscar Livings.
There is a strong finishers bench this week as we see Danny Hughes , Chris Lenferna , Michael Boyle , James Diaper , Nico Pickard and Martin Holohan lookingto make their impact on the game at some stage of proceedings.
It would be good to give these lads some support as we remember Dave and his contribution to the Club over many years.
