This Saturday 16 members of the TMV Walking Rugby group will head to Kendal to participate in the Kendal 'Auld Greys' Walking Rugby Festival. They will compete alongside players from across the country as well as Scotland (last year there were even players from Germany) in a barbarian style format creating mixed teams.

 

Around one hundred walking rugby players of all ages over 50 years partake in a good humoured friendly event with more emphasis on taking part than winning - any attempt at running is particularly frowned upon to allow inclusivity for all.

 

The players will be fed and watered by the host club Kendal and all hope is for good weather and an injury free day.

 

Several of the group are making the most of their opportunity with some camping at the rugby club and others staying in the town centre with a meet up later.

 

The TMV Walking Rugby Group are very keen to attract new players as a good way to add to your fitness and maintain your activity level as mature years creep upon us all. 

 

Wednesday evening sessions are free and open to anyone wanting to keep the ball in their hands or even get their very first taste of rugby - we look to make rugby accessible to all through our slower paced, minimal contact version of touch rugby.
