Trafford MV 3rd XV hosted Wythenshaw 1st XV at the weekend in a game in memory of former 3rd XV Captain Dave Hughes who passed away earlier in the week following a long battle with illness.

Trafford drafted in a few Old Boys in honour of Dave to complete their squad of players. Trafford put up a good game but the visiting side showed a bit more organisation as you would expect from a training 1st XV team.

Trafford scored two tries by Luke Wheeler and Fraser McAully. Charlie Valentine converted one and also kicked a penalty.

The game was blown up a few minutes early after injury to a Wythenshaw player.

Final score was 15 - 45

Player of the match for Trafford MV was Joe McVeigh

The result leaves Trafford trailing behind the rest in 11th position - the important thing is we have a 3rd XV playing enabling social players to get onto the field and play. Next step is to build a team and start collecting wins.

This weekend the 3rd XV will again be at home with Marple 2nd XV as the opposition. Marple are sitting in 7th place with 4 wins, 2 draws and 8 defeats under their belts - with a good home performance a result could come our way.

New players are always welcome to join our social/casual 3rd XV - Just get in touch or come on down.

This weekend is also a 6 Nations weekend - Get your pals down to watch it in the Clubhouse.

Ireland vs Wales 2.15pm on Saturday

Scotland vs England 4.45pm on Saturday

France vs Italy 2.00pm on Sunday

All games will be shown and food will be available to purchase.
