It is with great sadness that the Club advises the passing away of Dave Hughes after a prolonged battle with illness.
Dave passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning Feb 15th with his family by his side. He battled illness over the last eight years lovingly supported by his family and friends and he can now rest easy.
Dave had a strong military background with the Cheshire Regiment and showed this fight and commitment through till the end. He was a much respected player and team captain for Trafford MV 3rd XV and will be much missed by his friends and team mates within the Club. Maybe you have been of Dave's famous list of players that only came to light at the 11th hour ensuring the 3rd XV always got a full team out.
During Dave's illness he showed a great commitment to raising funds to help others fighting similar illness, maybe you joined him on his great sponsored walks or joined in the Family Fun Day raising money for Maggies House and Cancer research charities. He did his best to help other whilst fighting his own fight.
Dave leaves behind his loving wife Julie , dad Bill and and sons Daniel and Jordan and the extended family. Dave was luck enough to see two beautiful grand daughters born during his term of illness of whom he was so proud and blessed.
Dave will be missed by all at Trafford MV as a captain, player, team mate, supporter of the Club but most importantly as a friend to so many people.
Dave you can now rest easy - Rest In Peace.
Funeral details will be advised once known.
