Fixtures have now been released for our promoted 1st XV as they enter COUNTIES 1 ADM LANCASHIRE & CHESHIRE OF NORTHERN DIVISION for the 2024/25 season.
The players will begin their preparations for the new season and new challenge ahead with a Players Meeting on Tuesday July 2nd and then Pre-Season training will begin in earnest on Thursday July 4th - make sure you put your votes on Trafford MV having a very competitive season in the new season.
Head Coach Brian Collier will be looking to strengthen his squad over the Summer months but will also be looking to add strength and fitness to his current squad. New Players interested in being a part of Trafford MV 2024/25 campaign should contact Brian on 07592 984621 the Club are also looking to recruit players across the board adding to the playing strength of the 2nd and 3rd XV squads also.
With pre-season games yet to be confirmed and dates agreed the Club can now look forward to the opening fixtures with some old rivalries renewed and some new battles to be contested. A strong head set and commitment to succeed under pressure must be a prerequisite from players going into the first game.
The first challenge of the new season will see Trafford MV opening the season at home against Liverpool St Helens on Sat Sept 7th. LSH finished bottom of the Regional 2 North West league last season so are likely to be a fancied team in TMV's new league.
The following weekend Trafford MV will make the short trip to face Didsbury Toc H who had a good mid table position last season finishing 8th out of 12 teams winning 9 of their 22 games - definitely a challenge but a real game to contest for Trafford.
The third Saturday in September has Trafford MV at home once more and with Broughton Park as the opponents a good crown will be anticipated for yet another local derby match. Once again Park had a strong mid table season ending up 6th with 10 wins under their belt. Once again this is a game that TMV must be targeting as a home result.
The opening month of the season closes with Trafford heading to the Wirral to take on the other newly promoted team in the league New Brighton. The teams know each other well and TMV will have this game as a target also having beaten New Brighton both home and away last season although both close games.
Targets are target however and performances will have to be good and be maintained for the duration on the opening month and then for the rest of the season - a strong start will make all the difference.
The Club is calling for the commitment of all it's players at all levels to achieve it's potential in 2024/25 - we have the pitches, we have the facilities and we have the players to succeed at this higher level. The support of the Club membership is also called for as we look to build a home fortress that gives their backing to the players taking the field.
