This weekend brings the start of the 2026 Cricket season at Trafford MV's MacPherson Park and as usual at this time of year there will undoubtedly be one eye on the weather !
All thanks to the players and administrators in the cricket section that have been working hard to get the wicket and outfield ready as well as putting plans in place for the smooth operation of the season ahead.
Newly appointed Cricket Captain Siva Prasad is looking forward to the challenge of leading the 1st XI into action as well as integrating new players into the Club alongside our current player group to ensure we have strong teams taking the field each weekend to represent Trafford MV in the Leagues.
The season opens with the 1st XI playing at home with Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge CC as the opposition on Saturday afternoon.
The 2nd XI will be taking to the road heading to the Wirral to face Irby CC.
The weekends action continues into Sunday with both our 3rd and 4th XI's taking the field. Prospects of good weather are much better for the Sunday and both teams will be looking forward to having the Sun on their back as they take the field.
The Trafford MV 3rd XI will have home advantage as they welcome Romiley CC to MacPherson Park and the 4th XI will make the journey to play Lindow CC 5th XI.
On Monday the week starts with the TMV Ladies Softball XI starting their season with 2 games in 2 days. On Monday TMV welcome North East Cheshire and our Ladies will be looking to get some early form and continue the improved form they showed at the end of their debut season in 2025. They follow this on Tuesday evening by playing at home once again this time with Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge CC Women as their opponents.
The Club wishes each and every team all the success over the season and hopes for good performances with both bat and ball in hand.
The Club is actively looking for more players for the Women's XI and also for girls and boys to play cricket in the youth teams - so if you know any youngsters that may be interested in learning the basics of playing cricket and becoming part of a team then please bring them our way. When the Sun is shining there is no better place to be than on the Sun trap patio at TMV watching a game of cricket and chatting over the day with your friends.
