Following a convincing home win over Glossop in the opening League game of the season Trafford MV are looking towards a positive performance on the road at Heaton Moor this Saturday. The home side will be looking for a step up in their form as they started their season with an away defeat at Sefton going down 21-6.
Trafford have made changes following injury to team captain Chris Ward, which will rule him out for a long spell, Andrew Clegg will take over the captaincy and Tom Reed replaces Ward in the 2nd row. Jamie Butler and Dan Clark are replaced in the back row by Tom Shepard and Tom Namguards who drops back from prop. Connor Ryan takes his place in the front row. Jack Gobbett is forward cover on the bench.
Oscar Livings comes into the team on the wing as Adam Mason drops out of the centres. On the bench Ollie Jones and Calvin Ashworth take their place as finishers. Coach Aaron Booth will be looking for a good aggressive forward base from the pack in order to give the backs some space to show their power and pace in attack. The loss of Ward is a defensive blow and all players will need to step up in their defensive play to compensate for his tackling count.
It is good to see 7 home grown players in the 1st XV squad all having come through the youth pathway at Trafford MV - The Club has also recruited well over the Summer and the benefits of these newcomers are starting to shine through in performances.
The Trafford MV 2nd XV also hit the road as they head to Leigh.
