Trafford MV Cricket closed their season off in style last weekend with bot 1st and 2nd XI's winning their games. It was a day based on mixed fortunes with the 1st XI fighting to avoid relegation and the 2nd XI chasing the title and possible promotion.
The 1st XI were playing away at Appleton CC who fortunately were in a similar predicament to TMV with regard to battling relegation. The home side batted poorly and reached just 106 for 9 wickets in the full 45 overs. Trafford could now sense they were in with a chance and having elected to field first they were now in control of the bat and could see their target. Hardicker and Yousaf were 22 and 29 not out at the end of the game as TMV reached 109 for 2 off just 22.2 overs. The win was enough to nudge TMV above Appleton in the relegation battle with Knutsford joining Appleton in the drop - TRAFFORD METROVICKS CC WON BY 8 WICKETS
Trafford 2nd XV hosted Marple CC at a very busy MacPherson Park - which is hreat to see at a grassroots sports club. In excellent conditions Trafford won the toss and chose to take the field first allowing Marple to stake their claim with the bat. Scoring was not rapid and Marple reached 102 all out in 39.3 overs. Trafford had a little more intent with the bat and Rajat Samal top scored for TMV with 33 runs as they reached the required 106 off 5 wickets with just 29 overs completed. This result pushed Trafford into 2nd place in the league just 2 points behind champions Stockport Trinity CC. TRAFFORD METROVICKS CC WON BY 5 WICKETS
This coming weekend we have the South Of The River Beer Festival at the Club which is a good way to round off the Cricket Season and open the Rugby Season off the field of play.
