With the new coaching team of Aaron Booth (attack coach), Andy Quigley (defence coach) and Jamie Kingdon (strength and conditioning coach) now in place it is time for Trafford MV to start making their plans for the 2025/26 season playing level 7 rugby in Counties 1 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire of Northern Division.
Planning begins on Tuesday July 1st with a Players Meeting at 7.30pm - this is an opportunity for current and prospective players to meet the coaches, listen to their thoughts for the season ahead and also to pose their own questions to the coaching team. One emphasis will be on youth player development following the appearance in 1st XV rugby of several promising young players and the retirement of some key players. This is a chance for young players to get a grip on a 1st XV shirt and make a position their own.
Following on from this introductory meeting pre-season proper begins on Tues July 8th at 7.00pm when the coaches will get the players onto the training pitch to put them through their early paces. The interest in this first training session will be the first big indicator to the coaches of their playing squad and their players ambitions.
We have seen what our coaches can do on the playing field over recent seasons and we now need to see how the players take to the challenges set to them by the coaching team. The club will be busy on the recruitment front looking for new local talent or for players new to the area or players seeking a new challenge.
We would ask that if you read this item please share for us on your social media accounts or forward it on to anyone you know that plays rugby and give us exposure in new player pools.
Trafford MV will be fielding 3 senior men's teams once again this season with plentiful playing opportunities at all levels of the game.
The 1st XV fixtures have now been released and following pre-season friendlies yet to be announced the players making the 1st XV squad can look forward to opening their League season on Sat Sept 6th with an away game at Liverpool St Helens. Their opening home League game will be against Didsbury Toc H on Sat Sept 13th when players and spectators will also be able to enjoy the clubs South Of The River Beer Festival.
