With a spell of brighter, potentially , drier weather on the horizon we are hopeful that we will get some good cricket this weekend at Trafford MV's MacPherson Park. Players are now beginning to pick up some form following the slow start to the season and players will be looking for improved performances with both bat and ball in hand.
This evening (Thursday May 30th) the 1st XI are set to travel to Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge with a 6.15pm start - weather permitting. RESULT - ABANDONED - Both teams collected 2pts
Saturday June 1st
On Saturday the 1st XI are on the road once again as they head South to face Holmes Chapel 1st XI stumps at 12.30pm. Both teams have started the season slowly and are in the bottom half of the table Trafford sitting 9th and Holmes Chapel just below them in 10th position in a league of 12. Both sides will be looking for a win to put pressure on Appleton who are just above them. Leading the Cheshire Cricket League Div 2 is Wirral CC trailed by Westminter Park CC. RESULT - HOLMES CHAPEL CC WON BY 91 RUNS
Taking the home wicket on Saturday is Trafford MV 2nd XI who welcome Langley CC as the opposition. The game will begin at 1.00pm. There is likely to be a good home crowd watching as the weather is forecast to be bright and with Sale Sharks semi-final vs Bath being shown in the Clubhouse at 3.30pm. In the Cheshire Cricket League Div B East Trafford MV 2nd XI are holding onto 8th position while Langley 2nd XI are level on points in 7th position. Leading the division is Bredbury St Marks CC while at the other extreme Holmes Chapel 2nd XI prop up the division in 12th place. RESULT - TRAFFORD METROVICKS CC WON BY 60 RUNS
Sunday June 2nd
On Sunday Trafford MV 3rd XI make the very short journey to face friends and rivals Ashton On Mersey 3rd XI at The Beets - just walking distance between the Club both sitting pretty on the banks of the River Mersey. The game begins at 2.00pm and local supporters are encouraged to come down and get behind the teams. This is a big game for both clubs as they are level on 22 points with Trafford 3rd and Ashton 4th placed behind league leaders Ashley 4th XI and Didsbury 4th XI. Propping up the league currently is Romiley 3rd XI in 10th place. RESULT - TRAFFORD METROVICKS CC WON BY 7 WICKETS
Also playing on Sunday is the Trafford MV 4th XI who have home advantage as they welcome Didsbury 5th XI to MacPherson Park for a 2.00pm start. Please come and support the club on and off the field of play. Trafford will be looking for a favourable result as a strong start to the season has put them into 2nd place currently behind Elworth CC - Didsbury are currently 8th in the 10 team league, Timperley CC 6th XI are currently bottom.
