Trafford MV's season takes off this weekend as Cup action comes to MacPherson Park. The Clubs first serious game of the season is a Lancashire Trophy 1st Round fixture with Warrington as the opposition. The Clubs are new to each other at 1st XV level so there is a nervous expectation as to how the game will be played.
Trafford have worked hard over the last two months and have been developing a new style of play to take on the challenges ahead of them this season. There are a number of changes to the side that won promotion in the 2023/24 season for Trafford MV and a number of players are being given the opportunity to compete for a starting place ahead of the League campaign starting the first Saturday in September (another home game vs Liverpool St Helens).
Saturdays game kicks off at 3.00pm and is preceded by in inter-club game in memory of Club stalwart Dave Hughes who passed away earlier this year. An Over 30's XV will face an Under 30's XV in a game starting at 1.00pm as part of a family fun day - please bring the family along and enjoy the day (please bring cash for donations / raffles / tombola / face painting / bouncy castle, etc). The Charity Partner on the day will be MAGGIE'S -
' We provide free cancer support and information in our centres alongside NHS hospitals and online. Everything you see is designed with you in mind. You won't see a reception desk, or signs on the walls; no name badges or uniforms. There are no clocks either, as we want you to feel you can stay for as long as you need, and come back as often as you like.'
Please dig deep for the charity that helped Dave and his family so much over a number of years.
In the Clubhouse we will be showing the Springboks vs All Blacks game at 4.00pm so the Club is expected to be very busy - so please come early to ensure you get seats / food, etc.
Have a great time as you visit the friendly, welcoming Club that is TRAFFORD MV.
You can buy your tickets for the South Of The River Beer Festival 27/28th September from the bar in the Clubhouse - just £5 cash please.
