Trafford MV RFCC

27 - 10

(HT 0-0)

Liverpool Collegiate RUFC
In excellent conditions and on a perfect playing surface the spectators at MacPherson Park were entertained by two sides playing open rugby. Trafford MV drew first blood following a 50/22 kick from Joey Wilson resulted in a lineout that saw the ball won by Beales and moved out to winger Livings who off loaded in the corner for Luke O'Shea to score 5-0. Trafford followed this out as winger Oscar Livings this time finished himself after good handling along the backs 10-0. Collegiate managed to get on the board before the break despite the defensive efforts of Butler as they earned a penalty which was eased over for a 10-3 half time score.

A long injury break saw a swing in play as Trafford eased off and the effected Liverpool team raised their game. Trafford lost Booth to a yellow card for deliberate knock on early in the half but MV still managed to pick up an O'Shea penalty 13-3. Collegiates upturn in performance brought them a converted try as they broke down the blind side from a lineout maul 13-10. Tom Shepard capped a great game by charging down a Collegiate clearance and managing to dribble the bobbling ball over the line go give O'Shea an easy conversion 20-10. As the game drew to a close it was player/coach Aaron Booth that sealed the points for Trafford MV as he picked up a loose ball in the middle and jinked though floundering defence to run in under the posts for another comfortable conversion for Luke O'Shea,

This was a good performance from a developing Trafford MV side that is gaining in confidence each week. This win keeps the pressure on Littleborough and Aspull and sets Trafford up nicely for their trip to Orrell at the weekend.
