Trafford MV hosted Fylde on Saturday in the semi final of the NOWIRUL PRIMO DRINKS BOWL and proved to worthy winners in a tough but entertaining game. Fylde brought a big set of players to the contest and the early stages of the contest were up front among the forwards. Trafford defended early pressure from the visitors well and came out on top when good handling got the ball wide for Jordan Rigg to outflank the defence for an early 5-0 lead. Both sides suffered early injuries Trafford lost James Halsall prior to kick off and this was quickly followed by Jimmy Craven and Jacob Grant having to leave the field. Fylde were gifted an easy try by MV to go 7-5 ahead before Dale Beardsall got the touchdown as a driving maul crossed the line, Adam Mason converted 7-12. The game was nip and tuck and Fylde levelled before the break 12-12.
Frustrations were showing in the Fylde team and they collected 2 yellows. They still had early impetus and got them selves in front until Trafford started moving the ball wide and kicking over the defence. Ollie Jones was running the show for TMV and a long kick was followed by Joe Owens who beat the back pedalling defence to the touchdown and Mason converted. Jamie Parker kicked a penalty but with 10min to go Trafford were behind 22-25. Never give up was the MV attitude and Joe Hynes was the man making the difference as he crossed the line with the clock ticking down. No pressure for Adam Mason who's kick sailed over to clinch the game 29-25 for Trafford.
Fly Half Ollie Jones was the well deserved Player of the Match for Trafford MV in a game that was well refereed from start to finish.
Trafford MV will meet Wigan, who beat Warrington by a single point, in the final on May 3rd venue TBC.
