Trafford MV 3rd XV welcomed an Oldham side, which apparently had 17 players on Friday, to MacPherson Park but they appeared with 12 men all of which were viable front row replacements. Being the gentleman we are Navid and Simon both volunteered to play a half each for the opposition to help them out.
The game started frantically with 3 quick tries from Nick Harrison, Bill Thatcher and Jon Lord, the fitness of the MV back row was too much for the Oldham pack to handle as the backs pulled them across the pitch with Gareth Adams scoring his second before the break.
Oldham came into the second half with renewed energy, scoring from a clever line out routine to make the score 22-7. A quick reshuffle and the arrival of Charlie Neilson and a yellow card for Oldham for a high tackle on Navid saw Trafford retake control of the game threatening to score multiple times before Joe Cooper eventually rounded off the scoring.
Despite a somewhat makeshift team and some new faces everyone put in a fantastic performance In a score line that certainly flattered Oldham as the game finished 27-7.
Player of the Match was Gareth Adams.
