Trafford MV 2nds travelled to Wigan on a glorious day for playing open rugby. It was always going to be a tough afternoon against an unbeaten Wigan outfit and with Trafford continuing their policy of giving young up and coming players their game time. Trafford shocked the home side early on with tries from Luke Dale and the prolific Laurence Ryan both converted by Adam Mason 0-14 to TMV. Trafford were light in some position with late cry off's forcing positional as well as player changes to the team. Wigan used their size and power to get back in the game levelling at 14-14. Trafford defended hard through Adam Whitworth and Malachy Barnes but with Wigan running hard and supporting well to take offloads they soon forged a lead. TMV strived to keep in touch and forced a good, deserved try for Adam Mason who later was awarded TMV Player of the match award. 

 

Wigan showed their qualities which backed up their unbeaten run but Trafford defended well and worked hard throughout the game which will stand the team in good stead going forward. The pressure is still in Eccles in 2nd place as Trafford are confident of picking up points in their remaining games.

 

This weekend coming TMV 2nds will host close neighbours and rivals Altrincham Kersal 2nd XV at MacPherson Park ko 3.00pm - spectators are very welcome to come and cheer the teams on.
