Trafford MV 3rd XV had a tough afternoon in their away fixture at Eccles where they were well and truly despatched into second place.
Trafford travelled short handed to begin with as poor availabilities left the team with only 13 players to travel - this was soon reduced to 11 men as injuries took their toll on the players. A useful Eccles team were soon able to find the spaces in Trafford's hard working defence but lack of numbers just proved too much to combat. Tries came at regular intervals for Eccles as they found the wide spaces and continually out flanked TMV whose midfield defence coped commendably.
Trafford's only score in response to the Eccles deluge was a penalty kick from Ryan Wilkinson. Player of the Match for Trafford was Ed O'Riordan. All Trafford's players deserve a pat on their back for digging in and putting a big shift in against the odds.
Final score was 85-3 to Eccles.
Firmly rooted at the foot of the table it is now personal pride that the players in the 3rd XV are playing for and they need the help of other players in making themselves available to play so a full squad takes the field on a Saturday afternoon.
This weekend the 3rd XV make the short journey to Wythenshawe who are just one place above TMV but a good gap in league points. Wythenshawe ran out 15-45 winners a few weeks back in the return fixture. Kick off is at 3.00pm
Six Nations games will be showing in the Clubhouse this weekend.
